Are you tired of postponing your dreams, your ambitions, your wants and needs? Have you always wanted to start your own business, but just don’t know how? Do you finally want to step up and make that change in your career, your income, and your life? The days of relying on just one income source is over. We’re constantly reminded of the bad economy, rising cost of living, and even job insecurity. But the entrepreneurship alternative - of starting out on your own, of building your own livelihood - scares you. You are afraid of the uncertainties, the risks, the challenges that come with it. Still, you see others do it, and deep down, you know you can too. You just need the right "initial conditions" to jumpstart you in the right direction, the right “roadmap” to show you what to expect, the right support system to ensure your success. That’s where the 60-Day Startup comes in. Spend an evening with entrepreneurs who were once like you, who have successfully built their second (third to some) source of income. Just like you, we weren’t satisfied with the single income from our 9-to-5, and when you meet us, you will realise that we are just ordinary people like you - parents, young adults with debts, freelancers with irregular income. The difference? We took the leap of faith. It’s not always easy, which is why we know our stories, struggles and strategies can help you in your own journey. Remember the dreams, ambitions and desires we talked about earlier? Invest 3 hours, explore the paths others have taken, and who knows, the first step to living your dream life may just be one step away. However, when she became a mother of two lovely girls, she knew her demanding work schedule will steal her time raising them. Yet, she is not one who believes in sacrificing one aspect of her life for another. When you meet her, she will be the first to admit that she wants to have her cake and eat it. Listen to her story on how she did just that, and now, as the fearless leader of GrowInc and an advocate for women in business, she made it her mission to inspire others to do the same. GAYATRI PILLAY Lines, shapes, forms and colours excite the imagination of Gayatri, who began her career with a top architectural and interior design firm, working with prominent clients like Air Asia, Sapura Kencana, Mah Sing, YTL and more. Gaya lived like just as how Branson said it, "If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes-then learn how to do it later!" With that motto, combined with her spirit to venture into areas generally unexplored by her gender, circle of friends and community, she found herself drawn to the lifestyle of an entrepreneur. Wanting to live life on her own terms, it's no wonder that she is one of the youngest Indian ladies in her field, and co-founder of Grow Inc. HANNA HASSAN A local girl from Shah Alam, living the life that most are "encouraged" to live, Hanna is an accomplished accountant, having worked with high profile individuals and entities, before joining an oil and gas company, leading a team of offshore accountants. But don't let the facade of this committed working mom fool you. Yes, she may tell you that there's nothing she enjoys more than cooking, baking and spending time with her family, but talk to her more, and you'd be inspired by her silent determination. Currently, Hanna is building a side business with her team, as she explores the transition into a full time mom-preneur. NICK LEE Talk to some of his friends, and they will all tell you that music-man Nick always lived life on a beat and moved with the groove. His resume speaks of his musical talent - music producer, audio engineer, acoustic design, acoustic custom fabrication, and an inventor! Currently, Nick owns and runs The Ark Studios , a full fledge recording studio and audio consultancy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Between designing studios for his clients and consulting them on custom audio treatment work, he also carves out time to explore other ventures to satisfy his naturally curious and entrepreneurial mind. KHALIQ ZULKEPLI If you ask this expert in Change Management where he learnt most of his unique skill sets from, Khaliq will probably smirk and say “University of Hard Knocks”. Street smart, resourceful and his ability to build instant rapport with anyone saw him working on multiple change management projects over the years, of various scales and positions. He is a consultant and the go-to-person to many large government linked companies, agencies and corporations. After years of learning the ropes and the ins-and-outs of the job, Khaliq is now focused on building his own boutique consulting firm, helping his clients manage change in their organisations. When asked what would his advice be for those considering entrepreneurship as a career, Khaliq cites three foundational principles he believes is the cornerstone for his success today – creating connections, fostering relationships and giving back.
